I recently downloaded TaxAct to free filing of my 2008 tax returns. On completing all the required information I attempted to print my return and was instructed to pay $9.95 for the filing. When I sent a message to taxact I was informed that I must have selected the Deluxe method during the process and it could not be reversed. This is a ripoff and it is not free. Taxact does not tell you how the mistake was made.
