My daughter used this last year for her 1040EZ with no problems, so she tried to use it again this year. Despite having a similar return, and meeting all of the requirements for free-filing a 1040EZ, TaxSlayer insisted on filing a 1040 and charging her for it. I went over her return with a fine-tooth comb and there was nothing entered that would have prevented her filing a 1040EZ.

She switched to HR Block's Free File and had no problems filing a 1040EZ.

TaxSlayer sucks.... Absolutely no response from emails. I paid to have my states taxes e-filed. There was an error that the software either omitted or did not catch which was my bank routing information. I contact my state and they said the returns have not been rejected or even filed for that matter. I have tried 4 times to get a response from TaxSlayer and the only thing I get is some canned BS about please complete your taxes. When I go to the site it starts from the beginning all over again. Never Use This Site. Does not have Live Support. No Phone ##...... wtf ...... I am very angry.

After fighting with TurboTax this year, I decided to try Taxslayer.  My experience was great.  The software is easy to use and understand and allowed me to efile right away.  I wasted $30 on TT, but won't make that mistake again.  TaxSlayer is my new favorite tax software.

The software seems OK, but if you get a cryptic error message, which I did, you can't get help.  Nobody reads the email request for help, you just get a canned response, which doesn't address the issue.

This is my fourth year using TaxSlayer to file my taxes. Unlike some of the other reviews I've read, I must say they have done an excellent job with me all four years and I will continue to use them in the future.

When I had questions or issues, their technical support was always Johnny on the spot and helped me find a resolution quickly. This year, I discovered an error in the way the software computed my military retirement taxation for the state of Kentucky. After confirming my concerns with my state's Revenue Department I contacted TaxSlayer's  tech support group, who reviewed the issue with a Manager, who then promptly called me to personally discuss the issue. After reviewing it with their programming staff, a modification will be put in place to correct my particular problem. I will have to file a paper return with my state this year, but that is a minor inconvenience. TaxSlayer refunded my fee for filing my state return.

TaxSlayer's package is easy to use, convenient, and their support group backs up their claims with action. Way to go, TaxSlayer....

I was impressed with this program.  i have used turbo tax since 1995 and i am so glad i found something better.

I have to mail because I  am claiming the homeowner credit (and despite their stupid advice to file the federal return now without it .... and amend it later, the amending taking 12 weeks to process). I am also filing 2 states returns, so I paid and printed everything. All the fields on my SC return were empty... No income listed whatever, nothing, completely empty.. If I was to send it like that that, with a copy of the federal return of course listing income (which I have to attach), guess who would have been immediately audited (which they do not help with at all: as they write :"we do have no responsibility for errors on returns" ...)

They will never respond to your emails if you have problems. They will put you off and really tick you off. ... and to think I paid for this. From now on I will do my taxes for free on the IRS website from now on.

No need to use taxslayer. you can go to IRS website and do the same thing for free. Same with your state. If you should happen to make a mistake on taxslayer they will charge you to amend. problems with the software make sure you have to pay them more. My mistake was using them in the first place. Save yourself the money and hassel by avoiding Taxslayer. customer service is the worst.

I have been using TaxSlayer for a few years... and they ticked me off last year by screwing up my return and then not helping me, and for some reason I tried to go back and use them again this year - and their program is set up to automatically force you to pay to efile your federal return using the 1040EZ (per their information - I 100% qualified to have it filed for free).  On top of that, I tried to retrieve a copy of my tax return from last year and you have to pay for it (which, of course, I wasn't notified of).  Then, no customer support and a lot of incorrect information in their FAQ.

Do not give your business to this company.  I used TaxACT this year and much more satisfied (and was the same price).

This is my second year using taxslayer and I am very happy overall. I received my 2 highest returns ever and within 5 days of filing.  I do admit their customer support is not excellent so I recommend saving all emails and print copies just in case.

I am less than impressed with Taxslayer. A bit annoyed to say the least. I did my taxes and they said I owed Sate 243. I than tool it to H&R Block and only owed 49. TaxSlayer is twenty dollars cheaper than H&R Block but obviously cost more in the long run.

Advertises free Fed return for 1040, but after establishing the acct it wants to charge for the return even though it qualifies based on their own website instructions.

Dont waste your time

TaxSlayer is refusing to give me a refund even though i did not use their software. Customer support and software issues are the reason why, but they are still refusing to give me money back. Any letters of negative dealings with taxslayer would be greatly appreciated.

This software is excellent. I received my refund in two weeks and it only took an hour to file. I suggest this software to anybody that wants a qucik and complete tax return.
