Looks like this is the year I get to test their customer support. After I got over the shock of their software telling me I owed several thousand dollars in state taxes, I realized there was no credit for state tax already withheld, and no place to add it (they claim it is pulled over from the federal, but apparently not). Sent email, will see how it works out. 2012-01-29 |

I'm self employed and 25. I filed my 1099s with no problem, put in all the info correctly and ended up coming up with the same amount I got with TurboTax (which there's a glitch in their software that they're currently working on, so I decided to try something because I'm impatient). I filed, and not even ten minutes later I receive an email that my tax return was rejected from the IRS because the SSNs and birth dates of my children in the 1040s didn't match what the IRS has. Um...I didn't file any 1040s. Self employed, remember... And then I can't get a hold of anyone. The 'contact' button has suddenly disappeared off the side bar. Ugh. I won't use TaxSlayer again. What a waste of forty-five minutes. I'll patiently wait for TurboTax's update. :/ 2012-01-28 |

I have read some of the bad reviews and I have to say that in my case I have been using taxslayer for 4 years and have never had any problem with the sofware or the support. I used to file hard copy myself but it would take days to fill out the federal and both states that I have to file. With taxslayer it takes about 30 minuets and I can forget it for another year. Thanks Taxslayer.. 2012-01-27 |

Taxslayer was recommended to me, but I found the questions frustrating and unclear. Eventually we filed. And eventually, we got a 'correction' back from the IRS wherein we received only HALF of our expected refund. I've tried researching this. Trying to get our taxes printed out again to look at was a pain in and of itself. You have to pay to access your own info? Excuse me? When I emailed, Taxslayer said they needed the SSN on the account to help me; I gave it and I have not heard back since. In my own investigations, it appears the IRS disallowed the EIC Taxslayer tried to get us, and it appears Taxslayer totally jacked up "Worksheet B". I cannot figure out where they got the huge negative number on line 1a, and by my calculations, the IRS is correct and we don't qualify. Now of course we're disallowed from taking it the next two years, even if we DO qualify in those two years, because of Taxslayer's gross miscalculation. It's a good thing we didn't go out and spend the amount of money we thought we were getting on the refund...can't trust Taxslayer. Too bad I had to lose so much time in investigating their flaws. 2012-01-22 |

I have used Taxslayer for the past 3 years and I am not sure but, it didn't calculate my child care, Then I paid for an amendment and it didn't help. This year I tried both and Turbo Tax got me 1000.00 more. Now I am wondering if I have messed up for the past 4 years. 2012-01-12 |

I have used Taxslayer for 7 years and it has gotten progressively worse. I used to be able to save a pdf copy of my return, but now it won't let me - the file is corrupted and they want to charge to try and view it again on the website. I won't support a business that will hold my information hostage like this. Luckily, I have a hard copy, but this is not right. 2012-01-01 |

Does a decent job of doing the taxes, but cannot print my return and won't allow me to view my state return. The marketing is great but the product is sub par. Will not use again. 2011-04-18 |

On this web site I read of that you can get TaxSlayer for a reasonable price, about $20. The only price for download I found was about $9.95. Since the download is so difficult, the manufacturer did not do their job correctly. 2011-04-16 |

Bold face liars. It's not free. Its businesses like these that have been messing up the world for years and are continuing to do so now with recommendations from our own IRS website. I went through my entire tax process with them for about 3 - 4 hours then they proceeded to tell me it was not free because I was 36 years old. I got their link from the IRS under "free tax fileing online", then at the end of the several hour process they baited and switched me by telling me at the end that it was not actually free. 2011-04-14 |

First, I spent an hour trying to get their technical staff to download their program on my Mac. They did not succeed. They suggested then that I use their web site and that I could do up to five returns. Not true... Much too cumbersome also. I will not use them in the future. 2011-04-11 |

I really want to say that although it is not technically tax slayers fault that I no longer qualify for a 1040EZ because of my single income adjustment for school loan interest, it certainly is underhanded of them to not mention that this is the case. Because of that I had to upgrade to the $10 e-file at the very end and I didn't even get to use their "upgraded" services. Not to mention that it is completely ridiculous that they now charge to view your past returns that you filed with them. I'm so disappointed in tax slayer this year and will be forced to look for tax services elsewhere next year. 2011-04-09 |

Taxslayer is a complete farce. Someone needs to investigate their false claim of free 1040ez. If you did a 1040ez in 2009 for free you will be charged in 2010 for a 1040ez. This is wrong. I would give it 0 stars if I could. 2011-04-07 |

I used Taxslayer last year with no complaints. This year, their estimate for my NY state taxes owed was off by hundreds of dollars and they charge to look at previous statements. 2011-03-30 |

Tax Slayer would not put my childrens tax returns through for free either. They are nothing but a rip off. There was no reason in the world they should not have been on a 1040ez. Lost my business for ever... 2011-03-30 |
