This will be the last year I use TaxCut. The on-line DeductionPro sucks

Horrible - I have used on and off for the past 10 years.  This year I can't even get the program to install.  Tried on 2 different computers - same problem.  Now I wasted an entire day I had blocked to complete this years taxes

This is the second year I used H & R Block Home Deluxe edition.  It has been pretty much on par with other tax programs until I realized I needed to file an amended return.  I could not get the interview process to work correctly and the instructions were hard to follow and seemed incomplete.  I went through the process 3 X's and got a different result each time.  Finally, I took my paperwork to an H&R Block office and they did a free second look.  The tax preparer showed me where it went wrong and I came home and tried to go through the home program again, but it still did not ask the correct questions to allow me to enter the complete info.  I had to go to forms and manually correct them to get it done correctly.

The HR block 2010 software does not work. It keeps trying to update but cannot. Then, it tells me I have to buy a state return (RI) when I already bought it as part of the "deluxe" software package. I have been using HR block software for probably 8-10 years. No more. I give up.

I hate this program.  My state return can't be e-filed because it says the income doesn't match the federals.  When I review it, it does.  There is nothing wrong with my state return.  Now I have to send it snail mail.  Customer services doesn't help either.  I kept telling them, I didn't purchase a disk in the store, I used the program online.  They kept giving me instructions on updating for software you purchase in the store.  Frustrating.

Trying to do taxes on the kids snow day since I'm not at work.  My apple with os 11 won't load or even recognize the disk.  Searched and found others with the same issue.  Tax cut use to be a good program, but the last few years it's really gone down hill.  I'm taking it back and going with other options.  Very disappointed, but not surprised.

same problem as aaron - got an error message when trying to update the state (CA) that either my version was the wrong version or the update patch was the wrong version. From what i could learn from their inadequate phone help line, either my program installation, or my tax return file, or both, were in the wrong place. I.e. i think the updater program is looking for the files to be in the C: drive default installation locations. This is rubbish, because the main installation allows you to change the default location of the installation, and you can obviously put the tax return file anywhere. I was a programmer for dozens of years - this HR Block error is evidence of rubbish coding. What's more, the error message does not have an error code for reference. Nobody on the help line seemed to know what i was taking about. It would seem to suggest that i must reinstall everything again from scratch using the default paths. What the f? I've used TaxCut since the 1990's. Not sure if i'm going to continue with it. Fundamental problems that are unacceptable.

I been using the H&R Block at Home Deluxe Edition for as many years as I can remember and never really had any problems till the 2010 tax year. I received My Disc in the mail as I do each and every year. Popped the Disc into my drive and off I went. First of all it asked for my credit card info at start up and didn't give me the option to try it first so that was a real bummer but since I've used the program before I was planning to purchase it anyway so I elected to purchase the program. The edition I purchased included 5 federal e-files and 1 state e-file free which basically means I can prepare 5 federal returns and e-file them for free plus 1 state e-file. After completing my returns it asks you your banking info then the next page comes up to either purchase a key code or a key code you have already paid for when you purchased the program. In my case I already had 1 key code. When you hit the transmit button a message comes back saying the key code is not valid for the State. The Federal key code works fine but it says I need to purchase the state e-file for an additional $19.95. On the screen just before you hit the transmit button it says and I'll quote: You'll receive a refund from the IRS. You'll receive a refund from New Jersey. You won't be charged to e-file your federal and state returns. I called and spoke to 2 separate people on the phone with no luck they kept telling me I had to either mail my state return or purchase at an additional charge of $19.95 that they don't have a free state e-file on any of there programs. I kept telling them but it says it here in black and white. I also told them if in fact this is your policy you need to change the software so other people don't make the same mistake. Finally after talking to 2 rep's I called and asked to talk to a supervisor and finally got a free key code but not till I told them they be hearing from my lawyer. So if you got the H&R Block at Home Deluxe edition be aware you could run into this same situation.

I used H&R TaxCut for the past 2 years with moderate luck. The program is so buggy> Make sure you continually save your work, because under the review if you hit any button with DELETE you could loose your whole tax return and have to fill in ALL the information again. Also, tried to import a TaxCut return information from last year and can't get it to load. Guess I'll have to go back to TurboTax. Beware...

I've used Tax Cut for 7 years.  This year's return was pretty much like all of the others.  However, my state return says it has an error - 03-IL-103 and that I have to file manually.  No explanation of what the error really is - and no way to ask H&R Block without spending an additional 19.95 - which I won't do.  I will never use this again.

I've used Tax Cut for many years in the past but my experience in 2009 (2008 filing) has sent me looking elsewhere.

Once I reached the end of the inputting I was informed that I couldn't e-file because one of the fields wouldn't accept $0 as an answer when in fact it was correct. There was no way to override the system. So I had to mail the return in (all 30+pages).

The big suprize was the notice from the IRS informing me that there were two errors that Tax Cut had made and I was entitled to a significantly higher refund.

After that experience and the much higher prices for the 2009 product I'm going elsewhere.

I find that once I install the 2009 program I can no longer review my 2008 tax return on my computer. It appears the new 2009 program removes the 2008 program and any others for past years.  Now I have the past tax years on my computer but cannot assess them.  this is a real bummer situation

Even worse, I cannot contact H & R Block to ask why that is necessary as they do not post a phone number to talk to someone.

Limits me to 4 items in Casualty Losses, I had over 50 stolen so now I don't get to e-file (is it that hard, to have multiple forms? Come on!) and they get to step away from their "we got your back if you e-file" promise just because the software is lame.

Spent all evening entering stuff in Deduction Pro and now it won't import, says there's no '09 data when the 8283 form prints out full of it.

So I'm getting to file paper, which I could have done with less wasted evenings.

Bye by, H&R. See you never. Thanks for the round shiny worthless disk, and wasting my time.

I  have used Tax Cut for years. The application installed fine on my Vista box and I receive updates fine. Problem comes in when ready to efile. No errors on the return, submit the return, transmits fine, then Bang! Returned with error code 30-FD-8432. No explanation other than to look through all the forms and resend. I did it 3 times with the same problem. Contacted H&R Block, no help. Posted question on their website, and no answer. Looks like others had the same problem. I checked and rechecked, then just printed it out and sent it in. What a pain. I'm very disappointed since Tax Cut has always been such a great product.

Used Tax Cut free online the last two years after using other software off/on for the last 10. Expected same quality as the last two, but I'll agree it's very buggy. Errors that don't correlate, return numbers that don't make sense. Spent 2 hours online troubleshooting with online help. No luck. I'm not finishing my taxes with it. Switching to alternate means.
