Tax Year 2011 Tax Cut has a glitch-- After entire return was submitted and accepted by the IRS- I received a message stating that I needed to mail in additional forms 8453 and 8283 re: Non Cash Charitable contributions. The form 8283 was submitted with my return in e-file, and 8453 is only used when you aren't able to electronically sign your return. (Which I did..) So frustrating- I spent 2 hours on the phone with IRS, and another 12 hours emailing with customer service, explaining to H&R Block that there is nothing wrong with my return. Looks like this will be the last year I use the product. 2012-02-02 |

I e-filed my return and it came back with an error message that it could not efile my federal return because of wrong info for my dependent. I called the IRS and the Social Security Office, and the dependent info is correct. However, I am not able to e-file because there is something wrong with the program. Will go back to Turbo Tax. 2012-02-01 |

Anybody get a letter from their state saying lump sum retirement credit was not calculated correctly? On phone with Block now trying to get support for the error caused by their software, getting no where fast. 2011-12-20 |

2009 Taxcut has an error in calculating excess SS tax withheld. Got a letter from IRS saying large amount of tax due to this error. Sad when the IRS know which software you used just by the error for this deduction. H&R was the go to place for taxes....no more. don't waste your money. will be going back to Turbo Tax. 2011-07-18 |

This is a horrible program. Not user friendly. Many problems when it came time to efile. Rejected the key code several times. Customer Support was not very supportive. I was told to continue to enter the key code until it is accepted. I will never use H&R Block again. 2011-04-16 |

The program had a glitch last year and it took hours for me to have them resolve it. They tried to sweep it under the rug. This year, everything went fine until I tried efiling. I bought the program that included it for the federal and then had to pay for it for the State (my bad. I thought it was included). Well... it came back with an error message that it could not efile the federal because of wrong info for my dependent. I called the IRS, and the dependent info was correct. But, because of this, the software would not efile the state either. The software I paid for included efiling for Fed, and I paid extra to efile for the State, which was completely wasted because it messed up my federal efiling. They are totally unresponsive. On top of this, I had to print 26 pages and send it all certified. Mind you, money is really tight. This company really is dishonest and not delivering on their product. It's clear this issue is common, because the error message stated that if my information is correct, to print and file manually. Crooks. Seriously... 2011-04-12 |

Horrible - I have used on and off for the past 10 years. This year I can't even get the program to install. Tried on 2 different computers - same problem. Now I wasted an entire day I had blocked to complete this years taxes 2011-03-08 |

This is the second year I used H & R Block Home Deluxe edition. It has been pretty much on par with other tax programs until I realized I needed to file an amended return. I could not get the interview process to work correctly and the instructions were hard to follow and seemed incomplete. I went through the process 3 X's and got a different result each time. Finally, I took my paperwork to an H&R Block office and they did a free second look. The tax preparer showed me where it went wrong and I came home and tried to go through the home program again, but it still did not ask the correct questions to allow me to enter the complete info. I had to go to forms and manually correct them to get it done correctly. 2011-03-03 |

The HR block 2010 software does not work. It keeps trying to update but cannot. Then, it tells me I have to buy a state return (RI) when I already bought it as part of the "deluxe" software package. I have been using HR block software for probably 8-10 years. No more. I give up. 2011-02-20 |

I hate this program. My state return can't be e-filed because it says the income doesn't match the federals. When I review it, it does. There is nothing wrong with my state return. Now I have to send it snail mail. Customer services doesn't help either. I kept telling them, I didn't purchase a disk in the store, I used the program online. They kept giving me instructions on updating for software you purchase in the store. Frustrating. 2011-02-17 |

Trying to do taxes on the kids snow day since I'm not at work. My apple with os 11 won't load or even recognize the disk. Searched and found others with the same issue. Tax cut use to be a good program, but the last few years it's really gone down hill. I'm taking it back and going with other options. Very disappointed, but not surprised. 2011-02-01 |

same problem as aaron - got an error message when trying to update the state (CA) that either my version was the wrong version or the update patch was the wrong version. From what i could learn from their inadequate phone help line, either my program installation, or my tax return file, or both, were in the wrong place. I.e. i think the updater program is looking for the files to be in the C: drive default installation locations. This is rubbish, because the main installation allows you to change the default location of the installation, and you can obviously put the tax return file anywhere. I was a programmer for dozens of years - this HR Block error is evidence of rubbish coding. What's more, the error message does not have an error code for reference. Nobody on the help line seemed to know what i was taking about. It would seem to suggest that i must reinstall everything again from scratch using the default paths. What the f? I've used TaxCut since the 1990's. Not sure if i'm going to continue with it. Fundamental problems that are unacceptable. 2011-01-30 |

I been using the H&R Block at Home Deluxe Edition for as many years as I can remember and never really had any problems till the 2010 tax year. I received My Disc in the mail as I do each and every year. Popped the Disc into my drive and off I went. First of all it asked for my credit card info at start up and didn't give me the option to try it first so that was a real bummer but since I've used the program before I was planning to purchase it anyway so I elected to purchase the program. The edition I purchased included 5 federal e-files and 1 state e-file free which basically means I can prepare 5 federal returns and e-file them for free plus 1 state e-file. After completing my returns it asks you your banking info then the next page comes up to either purchase a key code or a key code you have already paid for when you purchased the program. In my case I already had 1 key code. When you hit the transmit button a message comes back saying the key code is not valid for the State. The Federal key code works fine but it says I need to purchase the state e-file for an additional $19.95. On the screen just before you hit the transmit button it says and I'll quote: You'll receive a refund from the IRS. You'll receive a refund from New Jersey. You won't be charged to e-file your federal and state returns. I called and spoke to 2 separate people on the phone with no luck they kept telling me I had to either mail my state return or purchase at an additional charge of $19.95 that they don't have a free state e-file on any of there programs. I kept telling them but it says it here in black and white. I also told them if in fact this is your policy you need to change the software so other people don't make the same mistake. Finally after talking to 2 rep's I called and asked to talk to a supervisor and finally got a free key code but not till I told them they be hearing from my lawyer. So if you got the H&R Block at Home Deluxe edition be aware you could run into this same situation. 2011-01-28 |
