This is my first time using Tax Act; and this will be my last time. First, they charged me extra $15.95 off the return for handling my own money by sending me a debit card, although I typed in my bank account information to request a direct deposit. Now, if I use it as a debit card, I will be charged a fee each time to get cash (Max of a couple hundreds one time). All I can use it as a credit card to purchase. I cannot use it to pay bills, etc. This is my own money, isn't it? But they tell me how to spend it. How ridiculous is that. Wish someone can stop what they are doing. 2010-05-03 |

I am not really thrilled with Tax Act. I paid the fee with a credit card and they still deducted it from my refund. They then sent me a debt card and now it is like pulling teeth to get them to refund my money. It is the principle of it all. To contact them is nearly impossible. I won't use them again. I have used them for three years and this was my last. 2010-05-01 |

I wish I could give them a negative rating. I usually file my federal and state tax return with them. This year they hiked up there prices for state returns so I was going to efile state with them, however, they told me I was going to get a big enough return I thought it would be worth it. I paid and finally got to review how they had filled out my form and they had skipped a whole section of my return. It made my taxable income zero. I was so angry. I tried to contact them, but they wouldn't give a phone number to contact them at unless you paid extra to be a "Deluxe" member so I had to send them an email. After two weeks, I called my bank to dispute the charge and they gave me a number to call for TaxAct billing. I called and they were very condescending and rude acting like I had done something wrong and they guessed they could give me my money back. What awful service. I will never ever use their service again. 2010-04-29 |

This is the second time I have used TaxAct. It wasn't free but it was very affordable. The extra money I am getting back from the IRS more than paid for the software. There are deductions and credits that I could have been claiming for years that I've just discovered because of TaxAct - highly recommend it. 2010-02-27 |

This is the second time I have used TaxACT and have had no problems with it. If you can read the instructions and know how to operate a computer it is very easy. 2010-02-22 |

I have used tax act for the past 6 years and have never had a problem. All of the problems I have read about can be directly related to someone not reading the directions. Tax Act does not control when you get your refund, the IRS does. If you are audited you should have the paperwork to back it up if this info is on your return. Unless you like paying $100+ to professional preparers and waiting for hours, tax act is the way to go. 2010-02-19 |

I used TaxAct last year after many years with TurboTax & was quite pleased with the ease of efiling; received my refunds direct deposit with no problems. This year, it's a different story. No problem on the online program all the way to printing. I didn't efile the state as I owed so I wanted to print a copy to mail. The pdf is so large it won't fit on the page & nothing I do on my end will correct it. I have been through all of their faq's & instructions & nothing covers this. I also cannot find a way to contact them. I did include it in my review suggestions at the end but did not hear from them. If they had a 'contact us' feature, this would not have been such a headache. I almost feel that they don't want you to contact them. Take the money & run. I may be looking elsewhere next year if I can't get this problem resolved. 2010-02-17 |

Taxact Endeavor card is a scam. I received my card 13 days later with a zero balance. Not only that, when I called to find out why, they charged my card $2.50 within seconds. The representative was trying to guess when the funds would be deposited onto the card, she went from a few days to 72 hours. Something needs to be done, and I want to speak with someone who can give me answers about my money. 2010-02-17 |

I used taxact last year no problem..this year.... problem... as last year.. I filed two separate accounts... this year I couldn't access the second account after signing off.. this was on 02/07/10 and still am trying to get back into my account that they have already received payment for.. not to mention, my taxes have not been filed yet and I'm not gonna pay another fee to file them. 2010-02-15 |

If you have a investment in a partnership, and it is held in an IRA, the script for the Form K-1 does not ask if it is held in an IRA, so you will pay tax on its taxable amount twice, since the 1099 you receive from your broker has that value included. I made them aware of it last year, and have had no reply from them. I don't know if they fixed the problem, because they have not responded. 2010-02-11 |

This is the 1st time I've used Tax Act and I'll never use it again... My refund took 3 times as long this year..Nothing to do with the IRS but because I decided to have the fee taken out of my refund..big mistake do not make the same mistake...it's a waste of time and money.. I could have sent my return by US mail and had my refund sooner... It took more than four weeks to get my refund..I'll go back to using Turbo Tax.. 2010-02-10 |

Great for simple returns. Very fast & efficient. This was the 1st year I did my own taxes and now I don't know why I've paid companies hundreds of dollars to do it in the past. Through TaxAct, my total fees added up to $34.95. Wow. I would've given them 5 stars, but my return is scheduled to be here friday, so not sure if they are on time or not.... 2010-02-09 |

Their website is slow and doing my return was a real pain. It doesn't even look like they updated their site from last year. Seems like a real poorly managed company to me. 2010-02-09 |

I paid for the deluxe package which was only $17.95. I wanted to make sure I got all my deductions and I found it was easy to use. I paid with my credit card and was not charged any additional fees both federal and state taxes were efiled and direct deposited in my checking account. I could have taken the other option which was to have the fee taken out of my federal return which there would have been additional fees from Republic Bank. I would rather pay $17.95 then $80 that my tax preparer charges me every year.

They are crooks, they say free but when you come to the end, they try to get 30.00 out of you or they won't print your return. 2010-02-06 |
