Be careful with this. Their paperwork is not being accepted with the IRS right now. They are saying Feb. 14, 2011 before they will accept it. If you are not in a hurry go ahead and use them

I have also used TaxAct for several years, with no issues until this year. On the home page I chose the free federal filing with the $14.95 state filing and was surprised to see a charge for $17.95 for this service. The bad part is that it doesn't appear until the very end when you are ready to file. I called Customer Support and they said that I must have inadvertently upgraded the Service. Again, I have used this service for several years and have filed taxes for several family members. I told them that I did not upgrade.  They were not able to "downgrade" the service, therefore my choice was to pay the fee or register another account and start over.  Protesting, what I think sounds like a bit of a scam, I chose to register another account.  Again, I chose the very basic version with the free federal filing and the $14.95 state filing.  Again, I was charged $17.95 at the final filing stage.  To make a long story short, I was on my third call to TaxAct and asked to speak to a Manager and was informed that there wasn't one. ?????? The third representative was very rude and kept telling me he was trying to help me all the while asking me what my problem was. He kept stating, "you're getting free software, what's the problem"  When I got equally stern with him and reminded him that I am paying for this software and further reminded him of the "Satisfaction Guaranteed" advertisement, he changed his tune slightly.  Basically, his attitude and statements indicated to me that I should just be happy about the low price and shut up about it.  If the confusing and borderline deceptive advertisement, "faulty" software issue, and incompetent Customer Service weren't present, I might recommend this service.

If anyone having problems with Taxact cards, the IRS wants you to report it. Lets stop Endeavor card. Dont file using this card, they will take your money and make up excuses not to give your money. My refund was direct deposit on 9/03/2010 and I still haven't recv'd my refund. The fraud dept is full of ****. They ask you to send proof, I send a copy of my state ID, student Id with photo on it, voter card, Bank card, they tell me this not the right information. Somebody... anybody, please help me what else is there for me to send..I have a newborn, I promise my landlord I would get caught up on my bills, due to Endeavor card holding my money I was put out in the cold. I live in a shelter...My car got repo..I explain this to them do you think they care..All you get is an answer machine saying leave a message...

I've been using TaxACT for years, but this year their new system makes it very easy to accidentally upgrade your account and there is no way to undo your upgrade.

Customer service is not available unless you pay for it.

I will not be completing my return with them anymore. I don't like being tricked into spending money and I don't like being required to pay for customer service.

I have used this software since 2000. But the Final Version last year 2009, and the version I donwloaded for this year 2010, does not include the Pub 972 Calculation for Child Tax Credit. This is essential for calculating the Adoption Credit 8839. Comes up with the wrong numbers and about 40% of the refund I was supposed to get.

This is my first time using Tax Act; and this will be my last time.

First, they charged me extra $15.95 off the return for handling my own money by sending me a debit card, although I typed in my bank account information to request a direct deposit.  Now, if I use it as a debit card, I will be charged a fee each time to get cash (Max of a couple hundreds one time).  All I can use it as a credit card to purchase.  I cannot use it to pay bills, etc.  This is my own money, isn't it?  But they tell me how to spend it.  How ridiculous is that.

Wish someone can stop what they are doing.

I am not really thrilled with Tax Act. I paid the fee with a credit card and they still deducted it from my refund.  They then sent me a debt card  and now it is like pulling teeth to get them to refund my money.  It is the principle of it all.  To contact them is nearly impossible.  I won't use them again.  I have used them for three years and this was my last.

I wish I could give them a negative rating. I usually file my federal and state tax return with them. This year they hiked up there prices for state returns so I was going to efile state with them, however, they told me I was going to get a big enough return I thought it would be worth it. I paid and finally got to review how they had filled out my form and they had skipped a whole section of my return. It made my taxable income zero. I was so angry. I tried to contact them, but they wouldn't give a phone number to contact them at unless you paid extra to be a "Deluxe" member so I had to send them an email. After two weeks, I called my bank to dispute the charge and they gave me a number to call for TaxAct billing. I called and they were very condescending and rude acting like I had done something wrong and they guessed they could give me my money back. What awful service.

I will never ever use their service again.

This is the second time I have used TaxAct.  It wasn't free but it was very affordable.  The extra money I am getting back from the IRS more than paid for the software.   There are deductions and credits that I could have been claiming for years that I've just discovered because of TaxAct - highly recommend it.

This is the second time I have used TaxACT and have had no problems with it. If you can read the instructions and know how to operate a computer it is very easy.

I have used tax act for the past 6 years and have never had a problem. All of the problems I have read about can be directly related to someone not reading the directions. Tax Act does not control when you get your refund, the IRS does. If you are audited you should have the paperwork to back it up if this info is on your return. Unless you like paying $100+ to professional preparers and waiting for hours, tax act is the way to go.

I used TaxAct last year after many years with TurboTax & was quite pleased with the ease of efiling; received my refunds direct deposit with no problems.

This year, it's a different story. No problem on the online program all the way to printing. I didn't efile the state as I owed so I wanted to print a copy to mail. The pdf is so large it won't fit on the page & nothing I do on my end will correct it. I have been through all of their faq's & instructions & nothing covers this. I also cannot find a way to contact them. I did include it in my review suggestions at the end but did not hear from them. If they had a 'contact us' feature, this would not have been such a headache. I almost feel that they don't want you to contact them. Take the money & run. I may be looking elsewhere next year if I can't get this problem resolved.

Taxact Endeavor card is a scam. I received my card 13 days later with a zero balance. Not only that, when I called to find out why, they charged my card $2.50 within seconds. The representative was trying to guess when the funds would be deposited onto the card, she went from a few days to 72 hours. Something needs to be done, and I want to speak with someone who can give me answers about my money.

I used taxact last year no problem..this year.... problem... as last year.. I filed two separate accounts... this year I couldn't access the second account after signing off.. this was on 02/07/10 and still am trying to get back into my account that they have already received payment for.. not to mention, my taxes have not been filed yet and I'm not gonna pay another fee to file them.
