Bank corp lost my money and now it will take up to six weeks for the I.R.S. to trace it. The I.R.S. deposited the money to my endeavor card but now they are stating they have no such acct.# and that they have never even talked to me before, when in fact they even returned my call once. No one knows anything and you get a different person every time, when after days you are lucky enough to speak to someone in person. never again. Taking scissors to the endeavor card. And I almost forgot, you get charged $3.25 for every call. My card is negative $19.50 . 2011-02-10 |

I could use an online free software and give my tax return over to a big corporation, but paying a few bucks is worth it to have my privacy. I looked at ALL of them and their reviews. I determined that I had to buy a copy in a store if I wanted to file a paper return. So I went to Staples and bought the cheapest tax software. They only have three types. I thought they all did the same thing, but every time I sought out some advice from the program, Taxact would request that I upgrade. Even the slightest question generates a request for upgrade. I called their free telephone support once and they answered a question, but the next time the wanted more money. The software interface is not as good as the others that I have used (Turbotax and HR Block). I should have paid $10 more for one of the other types. I hope this is helpful. 2011-02-10 |

My first time using any tax software. I decided on TaxAct because was the most economical of the major options. I have a relatively complicated tax situation and the program worked perfectly. The whole process took about 3 hours, which seems about right. Will use next year. 2011-02-09 |

I used TaxACT for the first time this year (2010 return) and was very pleased with the results. I got my returns back within a week and a half and got more on my returns than I expected due to a credit I would have overlooked. I have always done my returns on paper before and probably would have again, except for it being practically impossible not to e-file. I'm glad I tried TaxACT and I will definitely use it in the future. 2011-02-09 |

I used TurboTax for years with no issues. This year I decided that maybe I would be budget conscious and try a different, less-expensive tax software. TaxACT is very confusing and does not explain anything. After all of my deductions, I was owing Federal and State a significant amount. Then, I decided to give TurboTax another try. After completing TurboTax, I was getting money back from both state and federal as I always do. Totally worth the extra bucks to be getting a nice refund back. Not sure what could be so different, since I assumed all of the info would be processed the same way. Guess not. 2011-02-07 |

I would say this isn't for the non computer savvy consumer as some of it is confusing, but I must say, I opted for direct deposit and I already have gotten my state, and federal is supposed to be there on or before the 15th of this month. 2011-02-06 |

I always do my son's 1040EZ & mail it-however he needs the $ so I went to the IRS website & found all of the FREE software prgrms & clicked on TaxACT only because I recall seeing a TV ad. I did the paper return in 5 min & should have mailed it for 44 cents, but then tried the e-file and it took 2 1/2 hrs to get thru it & cost $14.95 to get $36 back on his State Return. I tried to go back & undue the state return but too frustrated so ended up charging $14.95 to a CC. NOT free. 2011-02-06 |

I have been using TaxAct for around 4 years and have never had a problem until this year. However the problem wasn't with TaxAct it was with the IRS, My return was rejected due to lack of previous years info. When it was rejected TaxAct sent an email with full instructions of what i needed to do and how to do it, it was great. I will always use TaxAct. PS. Whoever posted that the IRS were not accepting TaxAct returns is hugely mistaken. Mine was accepted on Thursday 2/3/2011 and rejected on Friday 2/4/2011 2011-02-06 |

This is just a download of forms. I've been doing my own taxes for 22 years, so I'm familiar with what forms and worksheets go with what. I've been on the computer for almost 4 hours and I still do not trust I've remembered everything and will not efile using this, I give up. I can't stress enough that if you don't know exactly what you're doing, do not efile your taxes with this, you're bound to be red flanged and audited. This is one of the worst organized and non helpful sites available, and not for ordinary people self preparing taxes. What a huge waste of time. Two thumbs down. 2011-02-04 |

I'd give no stars if it was allowed. This software is no different than downloading the forms for free from the IRS. Absolutely no guidance. Also, updates wouldn't install and I was told if I wanted to talk to someone about it I had to pay another $7.95. I am going to chalk this up to experience and spend the additional money to go back to Turbo Tax. 2011-01-29 |

I received my endeavor car within the 10 day estimate and had no trouble getting my refund on it. 2011-01-28 |

Be careful. I filed the long form of itemized deductions but could have taken the standard deduction and the refund would have been the same however TaxAct did not tell me about not being able to efile until Feb. 14 but they sure took my $9.95 out of my bank acct. the next day. I emailed them asking for a refund and all I got was refile then my return could be efiled right away. This is something they should have told me upfront I think. 2011-01-28 |

I've been using this software for 5 years. Initally very pleased with it coming over from TurboTax. The last two years not so much so. The Q&A has missed deductions (states sales tax, ad valorum tax, energy credits) that it use to catch. This years was the worst. It took me 3 time through to catch what was missing and then another 15 minutes to find the section in TaxAct. They have slipped far from being comparable to TurboTax in my mind. 2011-01-25 |
