I found fraud charges on my account, reported it, never heard back, called again only to be told no investigation was ever started and was told "sorry but its been to long, nothing I can do for you, and no one else you can talk to". 2011-11-03 |

I used TaxAct for filing 2010 federal and state taxes. It cycled me into giving credit card information 2X so I paid federal income taxes twice ($2,400). When I went to call them, I was cut off 3X. When I went to file an amended return, I printed out a copy and the copy did not match what I thought I originally filed. What a mess. I ended up having to go to an accountant to clear up the mess. Never again. TaxAct gets an F. 2011-06-17 |

Taxact deposited our tax refund into their bank account. They stole our money. 2011-04-27 |

TaxAct is not clear on pricing-adding a 2nd state (costs double $17.95). Emailing CS is unhelpful-they reply in 3 days with a general comment (check your status..). They also don't give confirmation on direct withdrawl to pay taxes) as to when-or-if it will happen. All kinds of excuses to keep your money (when I call them). Never again. I hate surprise cr card charges. 2011-04-25 |

I used Turbo Tax for years and then switched to Tax Act because it appeared to do the same thing for less money. Gotcha. If I can recommend anything of value to you from my experience it is for you to not use Tax Act. Accessing prior years' returns is such a rip off...I had to pay two separate fees to print a copy and then it was not the filled out return that I originally filed. I can't give you all the details of my nightmare using Tax Act....all I can say to you is I hope you have not already filed your return using it. And if you did then repeat with me "never again." 2011-04-22 |

I used tax act this year...I followed all forms etc....at the end it said I owed $5... I mailed in the check...A few weeks later I received a large refund from the gov with a letter explaining that tax filed was in correct.. I will no longer use this program andsill not recommend it ... 2011-04-21 |

I purchased TaxAct for Federal and State primarily because it was cheaper than either TurboTax and H&R Block and it promised to import key data from other tax filing programs. You get just what you pay for. My first step was to import data from H&R Block which I used last year. That became difficult. It just do it but worse, it doesn’t tell you how to do it. 2011-04-18 |

I filled out 2010 federal return using TaxAct months before April 18 and saved it. On April 15, an update for TaxAct notice appears, so I click yes. It installs and now my 2010 federal return has disappeared. Thank god there was a three day extension this year. I went to IRS to file by phone for an extension, and it looks like I will have to start all over again filling out my return. Does it seem as if they did this so frantic filers would buy the deluxe version or pay for the phone tech support to make money from last-minute filers? This is the first year I had a problem like this, and I believe the last because I will never use TaxAct again. Stressful enough without seedy money hungry software peddlers to exploit the tax deadline. 2011-04-18 |

Terrible customer service. I asked a question about how to get into a form to fix a mistake and they write back telling me how to view the form, not how to get into it and fix it. I wrote back telling them that they had not answered my question and they never replied. Never again. 2011-04-17 |

Issues with TaxAct so far: -Cannot save without signing out. Therefore, work is lost if you have to look for into -At best, they claim they will respond to a help request in 24-48 hours. They don't, I'm still waiting after 72 hours 2011-04-13 |

When TaxAct transmitted my 2010 1040, their software failed to transmit all the data so the return was mathematically incorrect. The IRS billed me for the additional tax the missing deductions caused. When I contacted TaxAct they were rude and informed me that although their software error cause the problem, they would not assist me with the issue. I will never use them again and would recommend that you avoid them. 2011-04-12 |

I used TaxAct this year for 2010 taxes, fed/state. Not bad in many ways, but here are my problems with it: 1. It failed to file a Schedule M (Making work pay) form so my return was wrong. It called for me to pay taxes when I actually got a refund when IRS corrected it. 2. No way to get help on line or contact a person. 3. When I log in, I always get an old return that I just started and never finished, not my return that I actually paid for and e-filed. No way to get rid of the erroneous and never used filing. Not sure if I'll ever use TaxAct again. Likely not. 2011-04-02 |

This program is terrible. Not only did I have to call customer service 5 times, I also had to PAY for e-filing my state return when the package supposedly offered a free e-file for state. They told me to call back and request a refund when I'm charged. So, I have to call back a 6th time. My advice: You get what you pay for. Spend the extra bucks and get the H&R Block or TurboTax software. 2011-04-02 |

They sent my return with errors and basically told me it was up to me to straighten it all out with the IRS. This is the third night talking to the IRS and all i get is pushed from one operator to the next. 2011-03-28 |
