I've used turbo tax and hr block, this was a lot easier and there were no tricks to get to pay more, under ten dollars, this is was great.

I have used FreeTaxUSA since 2005.  I have never had a problem, but my taxes are pretty straight forward.  So, I also haven't had a need to contact support staff. I do like that they carry over my previous year's info.  I will continue to use until I have a problem.

I have the same complaints as some of the others, very poor customer service. I cannot believe that there is not a phone number to call. I sent e-mails to the Support Center and both times I received pre-typed, generic e-mails that did not help me at all. I do not like being taken advantage of, so I filed a complaint with the BBB against them. According to the BBB, freetaxusa has an excellent rating. I would recommend that if you are not satisified with the service that you also file a complaint with the BBB, because if we don't, then freetaxusa will continue business as they are now and nothing will change. I will not be recommending freetaxusa to anyone and would encourage people to use the free filing service provided by the IRS directly. I wish I would have done that first and saved myself alot of hassle.

I have been using FreeTaxUSA.com since 2006 and have NEVER had a problem. When I have had an issue, I sent a request to the support center and received a response within minutes. I have always received my refund within 2 weeks. I strongly recommend FreeTaxUSA.com.

P.S. - No, I wasn't paid or asked to provide this review but I was able to file my federal taxes for free despite my income and my state taxes for under $10 and in my honest opinion this was the least I could do.

The questions they ask are very vague and they don't give good instructions as to what qualifies for many of the questions asked.  Seems a little misleading and I could see many people getting a larger refund than they truly deserve just because the website lets them get away with it.  Although easy to enter info than many other tax softwares I have used, I think it is too simplistic and doesn't spell out what qualifies.  For example, when I was entering my education expenses it does not specify that you are to include employer reimbursed education expenses under tax-free scholarships.  (Any lay person may not know to include that--I had to look it up on the IRS website to be sure myself).

I usually use taxact.com, but I couldn't logon this year.  So, I visited the IRS web site and found free tax usa.  It was slightly cheaper than taxact, so I decided to give it a try.  I had a great experience.  I got my taxes done in about 30 minutes.  It walked me through everything I needed and was very straight forward.  It was free to file the federal and $9.95 for the State.  I added the audit protection, ($5.95) because I did a google search and found a coupon for it.  I am very happy with this web site and will definitely use them again next year.

Does not seem to like dial-up connections. Couldn't create a new account. Had to select a rating for this service, even though I don't have one.

Scammers. Do not use this freetaxusa.com. All they did was steal my money. They have no phone number. Horrible. I am very disappointed. They are refusing to give me my money back. I can't believe this. All this for ten bucks...

I tried freetaxusa, they have a glitch in their program which screwed up my taxes...wrote to the support team...They rewrote what I already said, they were clueless....there is no phone number to talk to a live person...now I got to do all this extra work and they are the ones who screwed up.  I will never use them again.  very poor service...

I have always used turbo tax this year decided to try free tax usa. My e files were rejected saying my information ie. birthdate etc didn't match. Paid $9.95 for nothing.  The same thing happened to 2 other friends of mine. Will never use this again.

I needed a question answered so I e-mailed their customer service representative thinking that it was going to take days to hear back for them but to my surprise i got a reply back within minutes and they were very helpful and accurate. I received the information I needed, plus friendly service.

I have used freetax for the past three years with no problems and my fields fill in from the past year. Great service, very convenient.
